SOUTH BEND — A real estate firm out of New York has agreed to buy the downtown DoubleTree by Hilton.

Details of the transaction have not been disclosed, but United Capital Corp. recently applied for transfer of the property’s liquor license from The Hotel Group.

The Great Neck, N.Y.-based company, which owns seven hotels in five states, will continue to operate the 10-story, 291-room hotel under the DoubleTree name.

The company will invest $1.5 million into the property as part of a 15-year franchise agreement with Hilton, Vice President Steve Kronick said Tuesday.

Kronick described the property as a safe investment for UCC, which currently operates five Hiltons, including four DoubleTrees, in four states.
